Valentine’s Day is just around the corner so I thought it would be fun to decorate our Almond Cake. I was inspired by the pastries I saw at Rocket Baby in Wauwatosa last year.
We’re going to cut and paste, so gather up a few scraps of colorful papers, toothpicks, and a little scissor.

Make a heart template from card stock or any heavier paper. Trace the heart design on the back of your pretty paper. Cut 2 heart shapes from each scrap of paper so you have a front and a back for each heart.

Glue a toothpick onto the back side of one heart (a small glue gun works well). Glue the second heart over the toothpick so you have the design on front and back. Stick the hearts on top of the cake.

Voila! A Valentine’s Cake to give or share. If you give the cake, wrap it in plastic wrap and add a big red bow on top. Beautiful!

Supplies for this project: Almond Cake or Cupcakes Scraps of red or pink pretty papers Heart template Tiny scissor or a curved decoupage scissor Cool glue gun or Tacky Glue
