Sinterklass Poster

NEW! The Sinterklaas Poster! One year, I traveled to Holland to experience a real Dutch Christmas. December 6th marks the beginning of the Christmas season with a visit from St. Nicholas. He arrives by boat in Amsterdam on one of the city’s many canals. Traffic stops and businesses come to a halt as people line the streets to cheer him. Sinterklaas is dressed as a Bishop, carries a mitre and rides his white horse through the streets as Black Peter leads the way, tossing candies to the waiting crowds. Later, I wandered the cobblestone streets, peeking into bakery windows and visited St. Nicholas Church thinking about what I had seen. I knew I had to do a painting of this wonderful day so I would never forget the magic of Christmas in Amsterdam.
